Vacations in my family are few and far between, so when we finally get the opportunity, I want to go somewhere lavish…. somewhere decadent and luxurious where I know I’m going to be spoiled and thoroughly taken care of.
After reading through a few brochures, I think I’ve finally found the place. Listen to this:
“Welcome to your ultimate vacation destination where we pride ourselves on creating unique travel experiences for our guests. We understand that the quality of your trip is measured by your experiences during your stay. Whether you are soaking in the sun at the beach, enjoying a chartered fishing trip with your family, dolphin watching aboard the ‘Southern Rose’, or mingling with your neighbors at a gumbo cookoff, our Resort Activities staff is here to ease with the planning and create lasting memories.
Our luxury amenities include a zero-entry, infinity-edge pool (heated year round), jacuzzi & sauna, Center Piece Lake (fully stocked for fishing), a Grand Clubhouse with outdoor fire pit, private movie theatre, numerous championship-caliber golf courses designed by some of the greatest names in the industry – Arnold Palmer, Larry Nelson, Bruce Devlin, Jerry Pate, Earl Stone and Robert Von Hagge – you’ll be privy to nearly 300 holes – free Wi-Fi, a fully appointed fitness center, and a multi-use sport court, as well as bocce ball, putting greens, horseshoes, and shuffle board.”
Husband says, ‘book it…i’m in!’
Youngest son, ‘awesome!’
Okay…We’re so there….but wait – there’s a catch. This isn’t a normal 5-star resort. This is a luxury 5-star RV Resort!
Really? RV?
Yep. ‘Camping’ in your RV just isn’t what it used to be anymore. I guess I’m not the only one who wants to be spoiled when I’m on vacation.
We’ve talked about ‘glamping’ before. I’d say this takes it up a notch. Here are a few more examples:
Water’s Edge Motor Coach Resort
Big rigs need big lots, and their owners usually want peace and quiet, privacy and amenities.
Water’s Edge Motor Coach Resort, is the newest and smallest luxury RV resort to open in Florida. The 5.5-acre waterfront gated community features landscaped lots with pavers. They feature only 30 lots ranging in price from $99,000 – $300,000.
Amenities include an outdoor pool, private clubhouse with bocci, shuffleboard and horseshoes, a waterfront chickee hut, a large campfire pit, boat launch & ramp, C.O.K.E. Boat Tours, Rivers Tours, Tubing, Waterskiing, etc, Incredible Fishing for large mouth bass, blue gill, black crappie & catfish on Lake Okeechobee, the United States’ second largest freshwater lake, 110 miles of scenic hiking and biking, birding along South Florida’s Scenic Birding Trail, golf, and horseback riding.
Pelican Lake Motor Coach Resort
Formerly a planned housing development that never took off, Pelican Lake Motor Coach Resort in Naples, Florida, is a 35-acre, high-end, gated community with a property owners association. Lot owners hold the clear title to their coach sites.
Pelican Lake’s amenities include a centrally located 8,000 square foot clubhouse with catering kitchen, library, exercise room with state-of-the-art equipment, showers, a heated junior Olympic pool and jacuzzi, tennis courts, shuffleboard, and a 35 acre stocked lake.
The luxurious clubhouse, with its distinctive architectural design, fine grouping of richly upholstered furniture, custom artwork and spacious dance floor, is the social centerpiece of this marvelous resort.
Bella Terra Resort
Bella Terra is the Emerald Coast’s premiere luxury outdoor RV resort park and campground, ideally located only minutes from the sugar-white beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama and Perdido Key, Florida.
Bella Terra is a perfect location to enjoy the area’s surrounding tropical paradise and abundant recreational activities, including some of the nation’s top sport-fishing spots and championship golf courses. Their tranquil, tropical retreat sits on approximately 40 acres of land with a 9-acre centerpiece lake. Over two-thirds of Bella Terra is reserved for open-space and is landscaped in tropical, lush foliage and flowers.
The social centerpiece of this outdoor RV resort is the luxurious 6,000-sq ft clubhouse with its distinctive decor, private movie theater, fitness center, and expansive lake views. Bella Terra has been awarded the highest resort designation from both Woodall’s 5 Star Rating program as well as from Good Sam Club and Trailer Life Directory.
Wow….so I guess it’s time to put all of our preconceived notions aside. No longer is it true that RVs are synonymous with camping in some bug-infested woods or as bait for tornadoes in trailer parks. An RV vacation can truly be a 5-star vacation!
So the husband and I are off – not to Bella Terra yet – first we have to head to Safford RV to pick up our very first RV so we can plan one of the best vacations we’ve ever had in our lives. I know we’ll be in good hands since Safford RV was ranked in the top 50 RV dealers in the country for 2010.
If you’re smart, you’ll meet us there…..
